The San Antonio Spurs proved they can win tonight on the road without DeMar DeRozan who sat out this game due to a left ankle injury. The Spurs pulled out a gutsy road win against the Minnesota Timberwolves 116-113 and improve to 27-20 on the season. Currently the Spurs are 5th in the Western Conference and should the Portland Trailblazers lose to the New Orleans Pelicans. The Spurs could find themselves in that 4th spot.

The Spurs won tonight’s game once again in part by the stellar play of the bench. Specifically Marco Belenelli who had 19 points, 5 REB and 3 AST on the night followed by Davis Bertans and his 11 Points including three shots from beyond the arc. The Spurs seem to be gelling together at the right time and will have their next game at home against the LA Clippers on Sunday at 6 PM. The game can be seen on Fox Sports Southwest and the play by play can be heard on WOAI 1200 AM.

Game Leaders

Rudy Gay – 22 Points, 4 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL

LaMarcus Aldridge – 25 Points, 9 REB, 4 AST

Derrick White – 15 Points, 6 REB, 3 AST

Bryn Forbes – 10 Points, 2 REB, 1 AST

Davis Bertans – 11 Points, 6 REB, 1 BLK

Marco Belinelli – 19 Points, 5 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL

  1. I was at the Austin SPuRs game tonight. I just saw the highlights. Kinda tight game. Finally won again on the road. Bench is the key and the presence of Rudy. I am happy to see DeMar rest for once.
Pop will be missed so much if he decided to hang it up. I wish to see him for few more years to see his younger players shine and turned into better players.
